From sfgate: This week, the City Insider spotted an almost empty case of bottled water in the back of Mayor Gavin Newsom's hybrid sport utility vehicle as it was parked in front of City Hall. At least one full bottle of Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water remained under the plastic covering.
This from the mayor who in June 2007 issued an executive order directing city government to no longer purchase bottled water, saying the containers clog landfills while the city owns a pristine reservoir in the Sierra Nevada that produces some of the country's best-rated tap water.
...Because of that, the mayor generally declines bottled water at any event or meeting, lest he be photographed with an offending bottle....
But...
The mayor occassionally (sp) slips, said his spokesman, Nathan Ballard. But in this case, the bottled water belonged to the mayor's security detail and wasn't purchased with city funds, Ballard said.
He needs a spokesman to talk about this? Hilarious.
"The mayor will be the first to admit that he occassionally indulges in bottled water," Ballard said. "It's not something he's proud of."
Each sentence is better than the last!
Well, no one's perfect.

Al Sharpton and his race racketeers went ape over New York Post staffer Sean Delonas’s anti-stimulus editorial cartoon involving that famous crazed chimp. They picketed the News Corp. building, organized boycotts, targeted advertisers, floated a challenge to Rupert Murdoch’s FCC license — and now the New York Post has apologized.
Oops. Can I say “went ape” anymore? How about “going bananas?” Shall I refrain from asking the race demagogues to quit “monkeying around?” Do I erase “It’s a jungle out there” and “It’s a zoo” from my lexicon? How about “beastly?”
...The only group who ought to feel insulted by the Delonas cartoon in the New York post are chimpanzees. Can you think of anything more insulting than to have your image be used to illustrate the base nature of a member of Congress?...
