Democratic legislature drives California to ruin

“On Wednesday we start a fiscal year with a ­massively unbalanced spending plan and a cash shortfall not seen since the Great Depression,” said John Chiang, the state ­controller. “Unfortunately, the state’s inability to balance its chequebook will now mean short-changing taxpayers, local governments and small businesses.”

Oh, the headlines and the pundits will lay it at figurehead Shwarzenegger's door, and the articles will talk of recalcitrant Republicans who just wouldn't go along with the Democrats plans to take more money out of California taxpayer's pockets, but make no mistake, it is the Democrat Party that has been in power in California now for a decade or more - they are the ones who have driven the state to it's current condition.

Their answer is and always has been they just need more money from you - but the fact is they overspend no matter how much they get. If you give them 100% of all your earnings they will spend 120% and cry for more. They have no self-control, they are not working in your interest, and they ought to be jailed for what they have done.

They like to talk about 'holding people accountable' - it's time THEY were held accountable.

Instead, they are launching efforts to make it easier for them to raise taxes, so that they do not have to have a supermajority to do so.

We do not have time for any more floor drills or partial solutions. It’s time for the legislature to send me a budget that solves our entire deficit without raising taxes.”

He'll take heat for that - and people will ignore or forget that we already have some of the highest state income taxes in the nation, highest sales taxes in the nation, highest vehicle registration fees in the nation... and more.

[the bill was] written carefully to address the concerns that many have expressed in the past."

A 300-page "Manager's Amendment to the 1,000-page Energy Tax bill" was delivered Friday at 3:00 in the morning. Not a single person had read the amendment when it was voted upon later that same evening.

So much for Obama's vaunted transparency and his promise of "five days" for Americans to review each bill. Just as they did with the outrageous "Stimulus" package, Obama, Pelosi and the rest of the corruption-riddled Democrat Party jammed the most intrusive and un-Constitutional piece of legislation since the New Deal down the throats of the American taxpayer.

...Troops in Honduras have ousted the president and flown him out of the country after a power struggle over plans to change the constitution.
After arriving in Costa Rica, deposed President Manuel Zelaya said he had been kidnapped by soldiers in a "coup".
Mr Zelaya, elected for a non-renewable four-year term in 2006, had wanted a vote to extend his time in office.
His arrest came just before the start of a referendum ruled illegal by the Supreme Court and opposed by Congress....

• Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, blamed "the Yankee empire", and threatened military action should the Venezuelan ambassador to Honduras be attacked; President Evo Morales of Bolivia described Mr Zelaya's removal as "an assault on democracy"
• The White House denied any involvement; President Barack Obama urged Honduras to "respect the rule of law" and a State Department official said America recognised Mr Zelaya as the duly elected president...

◼ Honduran Congress names provisional president

...Zelaya, a leftist elected in 2005, had found himself pitted against the other branches of government and military leaders over the issue of Sunday's planned referendum. It would have asked voters to place a measure on November's ballot allowing the formation of a constitutional assembly that could modify the nation's charter to allow the president to run for another term.

In various interviews Sunday, Zelaya characterized the vote not as a referendum, but as a survey to gauge receptiveness toward a constitutional assembly. He denied that he would have been the beneficiary of any future constitutional changes.

Zelaya, whose four-year term ends in January 2010, cannot run for re-election under current law.

The Honduran Supreme Court had ruled the poll illegal, and Congress and the top military brass agreed, but Zelaya had remained steadfast.

In the end, it appeared the opposition to Zelaya was too great. The military confiscated the ballots from the presidential residence, in effect canceling the disputed vote.

In separate appearances Sunday, Zelaya, Venezuela's Chavez and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said that the military had also detained Honduran Foreign Minister Patricia Rodas, further raising regional tensions.



Speaking in Havana, Rodriguez said that the Cuban, Venezuelan and Nicaraguan ambassadors to Honduras had tried but were unable to protect Rodas from a group of masked soldiers who forcibly took her from their grasp. Further details regarding that incident were unclear.

"If they attack our ambassadors, they will be declaring a state of war," Chavez said. "If they have weapons, then we have weapons, too."...

The coup was widely criticized in the region, in strongest terms by Zelaya's leftist allies, including Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. A statement from Venezuela's foreign ministry said Zelaya was "violently expelled from his country by a group of unpatriotic, coup-mongering soldiers."

The Bolivian government also condemned the coup, accusing Honduran troops of kidnapping Zelaya and violently expelling him from his country.

Elsewhere, Jose Miguel Insulza, the secretary-general of the Organization of American States, strongly condemned the coup in a statement. And in Washington, President Obama said in a statement that he was "deeply concerned" by the news.

Article 239 of the Honduran Constitution states quite plainly that any executive who even proposes changing the rule that a president cannot stand for re-election is immediately discharged of his duties, and banned from political office for 10 years.

ARTICLE 239 .- The citizen who has ownership of the executive branch may not be President or Vice President of the Republic.

Anyone who violates this provision or the proposed reform, and support those who directly or indirectly, immediately cease the discharge of their duties and shall be disqualified for ten (10) years to exercise any public function.

this was the arrest and destitution of a criminal president, with the help of the military. Proof that it is not a coup, is that as of this moment we already have the Constitutional State of Right re-established, with a new president, and new cabinet. As part of routine background checks, the city asks job applicants to provide their usernames and passwords for their social-networking sites. And it has been doing it for years, city officials said.

“Please list any and all, current personal or business Web sites, Web pages or memberships on any Internet-based chat rooms, social clubs or forums, to include, but not limited to: Facebook, Google, Yahoo, YouTube.com, MySpace, etc.,” states a city waiver form applicants are asked to sign. Three lines are provided for applicants to list log-in information for each site.

City officials maintain the policy is necessary to ensure employees’ integrity and protect the public’s trust, but the American Civil Liberties Union of Montana says they may be crossing the line....

“The city certainly has access to publicly accessible information, but it gets pretty questionable when they start asking for password-protected things that are created to create privacy for communications between your friends and family,” he said. “That seems to be going too far.”

Basij shots to death a young woman in Tehran's Saturday June 20th protests

Place: Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi St. and Salehi st.

A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim's chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes.

The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St.

Nor will the benevolent dictator work to protect them from higher fuel costs - it serves his purpose to let it rise. Social engineering is painful. And the engineers enjoy inflicting pain.

Shots Fired at National Holocaust Museum in D.C.

At least two people were shot after a man opened fire inside the national Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., Wednesday, officials said.

The suspect has been arrested, according to a law enforcement source.

Reports said the suspect first shot a security guard, and that another guard returned fire, wounding the alleged shooter.

There are conflicting reports about how many people were shot.
