An evening with Sarah
Had anyone chosen to protest the appearance by Sarah Palin, Sgt. Robert Goedde, of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office in Evansville, Ind., was prepared to handle the situation.

There were officers stationed outside the banquet hall at the perimeter of the grounds to monitor security, there were others set up inside to escort out anyone who was disruptive.

The result: There was just one protester, carrying a sign, who showed up and stayed for about 15 minutes when Palin spoke.

Staff with the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce and Salina police are making preparations for an appearance by Palin in Salina on Friday, as the keynote speaker for the chamber's annual dinner. More than 5,000 tickets have been sold for the event...

"We've had great speakers in the past," said Todd Davidson, of the chamber. "No one has generated this amount of interest — even President George H.W. Bush, who came here when he was a sitting president, did not drive this kind of a response."

‘The Fix Was In’: Obama Donor Gets Sweetheart Real Estate Deal in Chicago

link - Breitbart: Big Government
Bennett was dealing with Chicago Housing Authority Chairman Marty Nesbitt on the attempted purchased and put forth an offer of $9 million for the building.

“Occupancy in leasing or their purchasing a few floors that was the model but they were going to occupy,” Bennett said. “When you go in the market with a client, they know what their growth needs would be for a 10-year period. Absent that commitment, I’m not looking at that building. What made this a pragmatic deal was I had commitment from two credible users (SEIU and ACORN). Those don’t come down the road every day. It allowed me to put together a competitive bid. No way was someone going to compete with my bid.”

But Bennett didn’t put forth the winning bid. A company called Sterling Bay properties had the top bid. Actually, top bid is not the proper description. Sterling Bay won with a $7.7 million bid, $1.3 million less than Bennett’s $9 million offer.

“During my dealings, The CHA explained how important a quick, no-due-diligence close was to them,” Bennett said. “Yet they allowed the winning bidder to control the property for 5+ months before closing.”

You go with the highest bid with a party that has a good chance of closing the bid. As a life-long Chicagoan, this was disappointing. After the meeting, I put it in the rearview mirror and tried to move on.”

But later Bennett discovered Nesbitt also had another role: treasurer of the Obama Victory Fund.

Sterling Bay made a substantial campaign contribution ($28,500) to the Obama Victory Fund within months of the deal closing in late December 07. This $28,500 donation was after about $16,000 worth of campaign donations by Sterling Bay principals (Scott Goodman, Andrew Gloor and Craig Golden) to various Obama campaign funds going back to his U.S. Senate bid in 2004.

Pelosi's military travel cost the U.S. Air Force $2,100,744.59 over two years

It reads like a dream order for a wild frat party: Maker's Mark whiskey, Courvoisier cognac, Johnny Walker Red scotch, Grey Goose vodka, E&J brandy, Bailey's Irish Crème, Bacardi Light rum, Jim Beam whiskey, Beefeater gin, Dewars scotch, Bombay Sapphire gin, Jack Daniels whiskey … and Corona beer.

But that single receipt makes up just part of the more than $101,000 taxpayers paid for "in-flight services" – including food and liquor, for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trips on Air Force jets over the last two years. That's almost $1,000 per week.

It's time for a CHANGE!

The Disconnected President - Doctor Zero
The party of George Soros, and the candidate who turned his campaign website into a Swiss bank account by disabling its basic identity checks, have nothing useful to say about keeping “foreign money” out of politics

As usual, Doctor Zero nails it. Every word, every paragraph worth reading.
The belief that we can let the government control some portions of our lives and industry, while the rest remain vibrant and creative, is a childish fantasy that should have died for good last night, before the spectacle of a man who doesn’t understand why his declared capitalist enemies aren’t producing enough jobs to boost his approval ratings. When he urged Americans to begin removing the obstacles to their success, he was too disconnected to understand that process already began in Massachusetts last week.

Found wanting

The Disconnected President - Doctor Zero
Viewers of the State of the Union address last night were treated to the spectacle of a man completely disconnected from reality, insisting the country join him in celebrating his failures as rousing successes… or at least the best anyone could have expected to do, in the long shadow of George Bush. It wasn’t a President honestly discussing the state of the union. It was a long, rambling exit interview from a deluded employee, who thinks he was called into the office to get a raise instead of a pink slip. It was the hurt and confusion of an academic who doesn’t understand how his B+ term paper could have become such a disaster when implemented in the real world, and insists it will still work, if everyone pays closer attention to the extensive footnotes.

Beyond the fact-checkable whoppers fried up on the grill of desperate political necessity, the speech illustrated a disturbing ignorance of the way every facet of our economy and culture is connected.

Tonight the president engaged in demogoguery of the worst kind, when he claimed that last week's Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC, "open[ed] the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections. Well I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities."

The president's statement is false.

From the comments: "And he seems to believe what Rahm lately said, "The First Amendment is overrated."

The Left has a legacy hostility to free speech. But for an assistant to the President to make such a remark is astonishing. The First Amendment IS America -- our defining virtue upon which freedom stands. Emmanuel is a vile worm. What vile people these are. I had a shiver of chills this evening. This is an altogether new development -- a foray against free speech from the presidency. I can't be the only American who felt this chill. I hope not. rrpjr

Mr. President: Please Try, “I’m Listening, People,” Instead of “Listen Up, People!”

link
...Americans aren’t looking for more political strategists. We’re looking for real leadership that listens and delivers results. The president’s former campaign adviser is now calling on supporters to “get on the same page,” but what’s on that page? He claims that the president is “resolved” to “keep fighting for” his agenda, but we’ve already seen what that government-growth agenda involves, and frankly the hype doesn’t give us much hope. Real health care reform requires a free market approach; real job creation involves incentivizing, not punishing, the job-creators; reining in the “big banks” means ending bailouts; and stopping “the undue influence of lobbyists” means not cutting deals with them behind closed doors.

Instead of real leadership, though, we’ve had broken promises and backroom deals. One of the worst: candidate Obama promised to go through the federal budget “with a scalpel,” but President Obama spent four times more than his predecessor. Want more? Candidate Obama promised that lobbyists “won’t find a job in my White House,” but President Obama gave at least a dozen former lobbyists top administration jobs. Candidate Obama promised us that we could view his health care deliberations openly and honestly on C-SPAN, but President Obama cut deals behind closed doors with industry lobbyists. Candidate Obama promised us that we would have at least five days to read all major legislation, but President Obama rushed through bills before members of Congress could even read them....

Political HumorHealth Care Crisis

First things first... Obama's priorities.

What's more important than dealing with the economy, terrorism, and you know, all the BIG issues?

Why, it is ensuring Party control of course.

Obama focuses on the one thing he does know how to do, elections. Forget the country. Forget the people who have lost their life savings. Forget unemployment, forget it all. It's winning elections that is important, after all. Doing the job - not so much.

Obama Moves to Centralize Control Over Party Strategy
Obama has asked his former campaign manager, David Plouffe, to oversee House, Senate and governor’s races to stave off a hemorrhage of seats in the fall.

...“We are turning the corner to a much more political season,” said David Axelrod, a senior adviser, who confirmed Mr. Plouffe’s role. “We are going to evaluate what we need to do to get timely intelligence and early warnings so we don’t face situations like we did in Massachusetts.”

The White House was caught off guard when it became clear that Democrats were in danger of losing it (the Massachusetts Senate seat), and by the time alarm bells sounded from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, it was too late.

The president summoned Mr. Plouffe to the Oval Office hours before the polls closed and asked him to assume the new role because of the implications the midterm elections hold. Mr. Plouffe built a reputation in 2008 as a master of the nuts and bolts of campaigns, and will assemble a team to provide unfiltered information that serves as an early-warning system so the White House and party officials know if a candidate is falling behind.

The day-to-day political operation will be run by Jim Messina, a deputy White House chief of staff, but Mr. Plouffe will coordinate the effort.

White House Toughens Tone - Amid Concern About Midterms, Obama Boosts Staff and Emphasizes Jobs

Come on, man. You have achieved the highest office in the land. This is it. Forget campaigning. You are the President of the COUNTRY, NOT THE PARTY. You are supposed to represent ALL THE PEOPLE. NOT THE PARTY. DO YOUR JOB.

"Ellie Light" - Astroturfing

Obama has suspicious number of letter-writing fans named 'Ellie Light' cleveland.com
Ellie Light sure gets around.

In recent weeks, Light has published virtually identical “Letters to the Editor” in support of President Barack Obama in more than a dozen newspapers. Every letter claimed a different residence for Light that happened to be in the newspaper’s circulation area.

“It’s time for Americans to realize that governing is hard work, and that a president can’t just wave a magic wand and fix everything,” said a letter from alleged Philadelphian Ellie Light, that was published in the Jan. 19 edition of The Philadelphia Daily News.

A letter from Light in the Jan. 20 edition of the San Francisco Examiner concluded with an identical sentence, but with an address for Light all the way across the country in Daly City, California.

President Barack Obama has both detractors and fans. A curious number of his fans are named Ellie Light.

Variations of Light’s letter ran in Ohio’s Mansfield News Journal on Jan. 13, with Light claiming an address in Mansfield; in New Mexico’s Ruidoso News on Jan. 12, claiming an address in Three Rivers; in South Carolina’s The Sun News on Jan. 18, claiming an address in Myrtle Beach; and in the Daily News Leader of Staunton, Virginia on Jan. 15, claiming an address in Waynesboro. Her publications list includes other papers in Ohio, West Virginia, Maine, Michigan, Iowa, Pennsylvania and California, all claiming separate addresses.

Light – who e-mailed an identical missive to this reporter on Jan. 16 without listing a hometown – would not answer e-mailed questions about the address discrepancies in newspapers that ran her letter, or her identity, although she did say she wasn’t a former co-worker of this reporter’s who had a similar name.

“I do not write as a representative of any organization,” she said in an e-mail. “The letter I wrote was motivated by surprise and wonderment at the absence of any media support for our President, who won a record-breaking election by a landslide less than 18 months ago, and now, seems to be abandoned by all, supposedly for the infantile reason that he couldn’t make all of Bush’s errors disappear in one day.”

University of Missouri journalism professor Tom Rosenstiel, co-author of a textbook on journalistic values titled “The Elements of Journalism,” reacted with surprise and wonderment upon learning of Light’s widespread publication under multiple addresses.

He said newspapers might be able to avoid similar situations in the future by requesting street addresses and home telephone numbers from would-be correspondents, and verifying that those addresses and phone numbers exist.

"Just because it is inconvenient for us in the news business to find out who people are doesn’t mean it isn’t important anymore,” Rosenstiel said. “It is not OK for people to have multiple identities. This is something that people in the news business and in the business of printing “letters to the editor” need to be aware of.”

The Plain Dealer asks letter writers for a phone number for verification purposes.

Letters were titled:
Soapbox: Obama told us solutions will take time
Fixing inherited problems
America’s problems will take time to fix
No magic wand to fix everything
Happy talk vs. truth
Obama faces hard choices
President can't fix everything overnight
Obama never promised quick solutions
Obama never said he had a magic wand
President Obama said fixing our problems wouldn't be easy
Solutions take time

And so the meme is spread. Question is - who is behind this - "Organizing for America?" That's the place to start.

FYI, There is an “Ellie Light” on Face Book (founded by that little Obama man-loving entreprenuer) who is married to a “Bob Light” who just started work this month of January, 2010 for a firm called CrossPoint PPM LLC.
Since the firm’s only product is a “software application,” I would say the guy owns the firm he went to work for this January, 2010.

Cut the 19% interest if you really want to "punish" banks and help people

But that's not what Obama is really about is it? It is about control. It is also about using the banks/Wall St. as the imaginary villain, and to keep people ginned up in order to stay in their favor.

The "Progressive" cannot exist without perpetuating angst and anger. the "community organizer" thrives on playing to people's angers, giving them something to rail against while bilking them of donations. But the "community organizer" never SOLVES anything - the developers he rewards with big contracts pocket the money and leave the slums in disarray. In the meantime, the "community organizer" moves into a mansion with help from that developer. It's all there. His history was plain to see. But the media catastrophically failed to face it or report it, and the people, once unaware, are in for a painful awakening.

White House nightmare persists thi guy is beginning to get it, but he's still not there, he's still of the "Obama shouldn't have left the lawmaking up to Pelosi and Redi, and woe, he tried to be bi-partisan)
Obama Seen as Anti-Business by 77% of U.S. Investors You know who the investors are don't you? They're your Moms and Dads, your working class, and they are the ones who were most devastated by the events of a year ago - the ones who lost their life savings and investments, lost their 401Ks and their retirement nest eggs - the ones that Obama has made no effort to make whole.
“Investors no longer feel they can trust their instincts to take risks,” said poll respondent David Young, a managing director for a broker dealer in New York. Young cited Obama’s efforts to trim bonuses and earnings, make health care his top priority over jobs and plans to tax “the rich or advantaged.”

"Ohio's unemployment report released this morning marks nine straight months of double-digit unemployment in our state," Boehner said. "Tens of thousands have lost their jobs since the 'stimulus' was enacted. Ohioans fed up with Washington Democrats' job-killing agenda are asking, 'where are the jobs?' " Answer? the "Stimulus" funds have been frittered away, what little has been spent - a huge boondoggle.

Maybe he can correct his course. maybe he can move to the center. I doubt it. I don't think he knows where it is.

Democrats Propose Whopping $1.9 Trillion Increase in National Debt

Senate Democrats on Wednesday proposed allowing the federal government to borrow an additional $1.9 trillion to pay its bills, a record increase that would permit the national debt to reach $14.3 trillion.
The record increase in the so-called debt limit is required because the budget deficit has spiraled out of control in the wake of a recession that cut tax revenues, the Wall Street bailout, and increased spending by the Democratic-controlled Congress. Last year’s deficit hit a phenomenal $1.4 trillion, and the current year’s deficit promises to be as high or higher.

How is the word “teabagger” any different than calling someone a ‘cunt”? Yet TV anchors and our elected officials – including the juvenile activist President himself – feel comfortable slinging that epithet. It is time for Olberman to go. And any elected official who does this, must be voted out of office. It’s disrespectful, it is despicable.

16, 483 registered Massachusetts voters are dead

There is no voter ID requirement unless a voter registered after 2003 by mail and is a first-time voter.
“In Massachusetts, 116,483 registered voters are dead, 3.38 percent of the state’s total of registered voters. Another 538,567, or 15.6 percent, had moved to an area outside of where they are registered to vote.”

“The implication of dead people showing up at the polls means that it’s no longer sufficient to win an election with a simple majority. Now, candidates need a 4 or 5 point swing just to pad against potential fraud.”

How many will show up to vote for Martha Coakley?

the PEOPLE are scaring John Kerry

Like Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry isn't scared by Code Pink, Earth First!, ALF, Bill Ayres, the Weather Underground, or the Black Panther goons with billy clubs outside polling places. He, like Nancy, is afraid of the PEOPLE. In his case it is the PEOPLE who are showing up for Scott Brown in Massachusetts.

You're right John. They are a threat. To you and yours. To the entitlement class politicians. To the vote-for-a-bill-we-haven't-read class of politicians. REAL PEOPLE, John. Imagine that.

Kerry Warns of "Dangerous Atmosphere" Around Brown Rallies
Sen. John Kerry (D., Mass.) thinks Scott Brown’s rallies in the Bay State are “reminiscent of the dangerous atmosphere of Sarah Palin’s 2008 campaign rallies,” the Boston Globe is reporting....

In a fundraising e-mail sent to Coakley supporters today, Kerry said “tea baggers” are “revved up…at the thought of hijacking health care reform and every chance we have at making progress in Washington.”

why not simply promise the people of Massachusetts free health insurance for life, if they vote for Coakley?

It’s a perfectly reasonable strategy, given the other special concessions and payoffs that have been needed to drag ObamaCare this far. Non-unionized Americans will be compelled to subsidize lower taxes on the “Cadillac” health care plans of far wealthier union workers. Exactly one state in the union, Nebraska, will receive full Medicaid funding, because that was the dollar value of Senator Ben Nelson’s pro-life beliefs. Hundreds of other payoffs are hidden inside the Senate and House bills, to be periodically discovered by bleary-eyed staffers after the latest two-thousand page printout thuds onto their desks.

A Suggestion For The White House And Coakley Campaign Doctor Zero at Hot Air's GreenRoom - always a great read! (And DocZero is now added to the blogroll)

It bears repeating - Martin Luther King Jr.

was a Republican. Yet not a single person you meet will know this, not a single newspaper will mention this. Even though:

◼ The Republican Party - the party of Abraham Lincoln - was borne in 1854 out of opposition to slavery.

◼ The party of Jim Crow and the Ku Klux Klan was, as Jeffrey Lord points out in an article at the WSJ, the Democratic Party. And Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) is the only living member of the Senate who was once a member of the KKK.

◼ The 13th (abolishing slavery), 14th (due process for all citizens) and 15th (voting rights cannot be restricted on the basis of race) Amendments to the Constitution were enacted by Republicans over Democratic opposition.

◼ The NAACP was founded in 1909 by three white Republicans who opposed the racist practices of the Democratic Party and the lynching of blacks by Democrats.

◼ In fairness, it was the Democrat Harry Truman who, by Executive Order 9981 issued in 1948, desegregated the military. That was a truly major development. Yet - the military has been the single greatest driving force of integration in this land for over half a century.

◼ It was Chief Justice Earl Warren, a former Republican Governor of California appointed to the Supreme Court by President Eisenhower, also a Republican, who managed to convince the other eight justices to agree to a unanimous decision in the seminal case of Brown v. Board of Education. That case was brought by the NAACP. The Court held segregation in schools unconstitutional. The fact that it was a unanimous decision that overturned precedent made it clear that no aspect of segregation would henceforth be considered constitutional.

◼ Republican President Ike Eisenhower played additional important roles in furthering equality in America. He "proposed to Congress the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960 and signed those acts into law. . . . They constituted the first significant civil rights acts since the 1870s." Moreover, when the Democratic Governor of Arkansas refused to integrate schools in what became known as the "Little Rock Nine" incident, "Eisenhower placed the Arkansas National Guard under Federal control and sent Army troops to escort nine black students into an all-white public school."

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was championed by JFK - but it was passed with massive Republican support over 80%) in Congress and over fierce opposition from Democrats who made repeated attempts at filibuster. Indeed, 80% of the vote opposing the Civil Rights Act came from Democrats.( Women were added to the Act as a protected class by a Democrat who thought it would be a poison pill, killing the legislation. To the contrary, the Congress passed the Act without any attempt to remove the provision....

◼ Martin Luther King Jr. was the most well known and pivotal Civil Rights activist ever produced in America. His most famous speech, "I Had A Dream," was an eloquent and stirring call for equality. If you have not read the speech or heard it, you can find it here. I would highly recommend listening to it. Rev. King was, by the way, a Republican.

She is the daughter of the late slain civil rights activist Rev. A. D. King and his wife Naomi Barber King. Alveda is the grateful mother of six children and she is a doting grandmother. She says, among other things: (...) My grandfather, Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr., or “Daddy King”, was a Republican and father of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was a Republican. (...)

Meanwhile, reader Sean Fitzpatrick writes: “Pictures don’t do justice. Nothing like this in Mass since JFK. Worcester rally starts in thirty minutes and the streets are already packed.”

In reality Obama is Coakley's problem

It's that she has stated that she will be one of those who blindly backs his agenda - that she will vote for bills she hasn't read, will march in lockstep, will be the good little partisan animal.

The situation really is a referendum on Obama, Pelosi and Reid, more than even Coakley herself. It isn't her own transgressions, her own bad decisions that is killing her, it is her complicity. IMO

Poll shows growing disappointment, polarization over Obama's performance Washington Post
at Lucianne
A year into his presidency, President Obama faces a polarized nation and souring public assessments of his efforts to change Washington, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Nearly half of all Americans say Obama is not delivering on his major campaign promises, and a narrow majority have just some or no confidence that he will make the right decisions for the country's future.

More than a third see the president as falling short of their expectations, about double the proportion saying so at the 100-day mark of Obama's presidency in April. At the time, 63 percent said the president had accomplished a "great deal" or a "good amount." Now, the portion saying so has dropped to 47 percent.

Republicans are particularly critical of Obama's efforts in general and on big domestic and foreign issues. Just 20 percent of Republicans approve of his overall job performance, compared with 87 percent of Democrats. That partisan gap is bigger than any that Presidents Bill Clinton George H.W. Bush or Ronald Reagan ever faced among the general public. It's about on par with divergent ratings of George W. Bush across his second term

The EXTENT of the dishonesty is astounding

Shocker! U.N. Himalayan Glacier Meltdown Report Was A Lie
A WARNING that climate change will melt most of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 is likely to be retracted after a series of scientific blunders by the United Nations body that issued it.

Two years ago the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a benchmark report that was claimed to incorporate the latest and most detailed research into the impact of global warming. A central claim was the world’s glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish by 2035.

In the past few days the scientists behind the warning have admitted that it was based on a news story in the New Scientist, a popular science journal, published eight years before the IPCC’s 2007 report....

It has also emerged that the New Scientist report was itself based on a short telephone interview with Syed Hasnain, a little-known Indian scientist then based at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.

Hasnain has since admitted that the claim was “speculation” and was not supported by any formal research. If confirmed it would be one of the most serious failures yet seen in climate research.

"the knuckledragging morons"

“As Michael Barone observed, ‘the educated class’ was dazzled by style, the knuckledragging morons are talking about substance. They grasp that another year of 2,000-page, trillion-dollar government-growing bills offers America only the certainty of decline. Just before the Senate’s health care vote, Obama, the silver-tongued orator, declared that we were ‘on the precipice’ of historic reform. Indeed. On Tuesday, we’ll find out whether even Massachusetts is willing to follow him off the cliff.”

MSNBC's Schultz- I'd Cheat To Keep Brown From Winning In Massachusetts

Yeah, Ed. That's what people are worried about. Cheating. Dead people voting. ACORN/SEIU/Working Families Party. Black Panthers with billy clubs at polling places. Recounting over and over and over until the vote comes up your way with ballots pulled out of bathroom stalls and military votes discarded... we know how it is done, and all eyes are on Massachusetts.

Coakley is dropping like a rock

The SEIU is being used as a weapons against Brown, and SEIU members are being paid fifty bucks to hold signs for Coakley, but many, even holding signs for her are saying to reporters that they are voting for Brown. You have to love it when people sand up and do the right thing.

MA Sen Poll: Brown Leads By 3 (some polls have him up by 11)
Real Clear Politics reported: Coakley loses one-in-five Democrats to Brown, while the Republican state senator has 94 percent of Republicans behind him. Brown has a commanding 58-37 advantage among “unenrolled” voters, mainly independents and those who prefer not to register affiliation with the major parties.

A trend worth noting as well: 9 percent of voters say they’d already cast a ballot through absentee voting. Brown leads Coakley among this group 58-42.

There's more:
BOSTON – Republican Senate hopeful Scott Brown has filed a complaint with the State Ethics Commission after a report that a union backing rival Martha Coakley used state resources to urge workers to volunteer for Coakley’s campaign.

The report by FOX25 said the Service Employees International Union used state computers and e-mail addresses to direct state employees to volunteer for Coakley, the Democratic state attorney general.

Coakley’s campaign referred questions to the attorney general’s office. A spokeswoman said the attorney general’s office has received the letter from Brown’s attorney and will review it before commenting.

The SEIU did not immediately return a call for comment.
