Friday evening I logged onto Twitter to find that I had about a dozen new mentions in less than an hour, which is a rare occurrence. When I checked one of the posts that I had been tagged in I saw that it was a picture that had supposedly been tweeted to me by Congressman Anthony Weiner.

The account that these tweets were sent from was familiar to me; this person had harassed me many times after the Congressman followed me on Twitter a month or so ago. Since I had dealt with this person and his cohorts before I assumed that the tweet and the picture were their latest attempts at defaming the Congressman and harassing his supporters.

Jarrett believed this would further delay Panetta from acting, as the responsibility for failure would then fall almost entirely on him. What Valerie Jarrett, and the president, did not know is that Leon Panetta had already initiated a program that reported to him –and only him, involving a covert on the ground attack against the compound. Basically, the whole damn operation was already ready to go – including the specific team support Intel necessary to engage the enemy within hours of being given notice. Panetta then made plans to proceed with an on-ground assault.

Just so there's no doubt - I think killing Bin Laden is a great thing, but I find the reactions interesting.

The image itself, a disembodied head, connects this event to the abject misery that Zarqawi had brought to so many people in Iraq over the course of his deadly career. He was the one who reportedly sawed off the head of Nicholas Berg, and now Zarqawi's head was appearing, lifeless, eyes closed, as if it too were somehow detached from his body. For those who want revenge, the head of Zarqawi is a welcome sight; but it reminds others how much this war has been about cycles of killing, retribution, tribal and sectarian violence, and the most primitive destructive urges...
And now we gaze on Zarqawi's face one last time, as he reminds us that the new product wasn't so new; the war turned out to have all too much of what wars have always had in them, death, destruction and chaos. Zarqawi's head forces us to confront once again the most primitive dynamic of war: It's an eye for an eye, or a head for a head.

While the leftwing gals on ABC’s The View are currently high-fiving President Obama, there’s curiously little mention on the show about their own efforts to spread doubt as to the cause of 9/11. So I eagerly await the next radio or print missive from former View co-host and noted metallurgist Rosie O’Donnell on the impact of Osama’s death.

Also worth noting there: (dripping with sarcasm, Maureen Dowd wrote:) Mr. Bush justified his Iraq war by stressing the 9/11 losses. He emphasized the humanity of the Iraqis who desire freedom

Not a hint of sarcasm as Obama proclaimed the bombing of Libya on that same justification, and no other.

It is interesting to see the various reactions to the elimination of Bin Laden.

All hail... yep, He really DOES walk on water! Two perspectives

President Obama performed an astonishingly difficult balancing act between the release of his birth certificate and his announcement of Osama bin Laden’s death — and pulled it off dazzlingly.

Wednesday, he made light of claims that he was born outside the country and gently chastised his critics to grow up. Friday, he authorized the attack that killed the country’s most hated enemy since Hitler. Saturday, he honed his comic delivery to slay the audience at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Sunday, he announced bin Laden’s death, in a pitch-perfect speech he wrote himself.

You usually need to look to comic books to find someone moving so skillfully between roles: Bruce Wayne donning a tuxedo to charm Gotham society one night, Batman capturing his arch-enemy the next. It’s the kind of thing that doesn’t happen in real life.

But it did.

The issue - for those of us who believed it would have been better to just assassinate Saddam, (as an example) and save countless American lives - the issue is that it is a slippery slope - that if you sanction this, you declare open season on all world leaders, including, and maybe especially, our own. And this is not a good thing. Civility, at its pinnacle, was this 'gentlemen's agreement' between all the nations of the world.

Now that it has been broken, what happens?
