The President’s Job Killers
◼ (W)hy use such an inflammatory term, ”The President’s job Killers,” if these are the problems in the jobs market? Because there is an “elephant in the room” which is a far greater, and longer lasting factor than any one of the others: a huge and growing government bureaucracy, which has become more and more oppressive. - John Mariotti/Forbes
Many critics... have called Barack Obama the most anti-business president in modern history, but he doesn’t do all the anti-business things himself. He has “minions” called czars, cabinet secretaries and commissioners to do his dirty work. Obama’s philosophy is that he, and the government. knows what’s best for Americans, so he will build a “Big Brother” society in which more and more of Americans’ lives are run by, controlled by and funded by the government.
There is a problem with that—in fact there are several. First, Obama and the government don’t always know what’s best. Case in point is the “Stimulus Package” that didn’t work. Second, Americans are accustomed to being free to do many things the way they want, and that doesn’t fit with the way the government might want. Third, big government means lots of government employees, most of them in public unions earning pay and benefits 1-1/2 times their (tax-paying) private sector counterparts and with much greater job security.
The very job-security-enhancing efforts of all these bureaucrats, who work for the president and the government is what is killing jobs....

“Your walnut products are drugs” — and “new drugs” at that — and, therefore, “they may not legally be marketed … in the United States without an approved new drug application.”
◼ Walnuts Are Drugs, Says FDA
The company claimed, in its marketing materials, that the omega-3 fatty acids found in walnuts have been shown to have certain health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and some types of cancer. These claims, Faloon notes, are well supported by scientific research: “Life Extension has published 57 articles that describe the health benefits of walnuts”; and “The US National Library of Medicine database contains no fewer than 35 peer-reviewed published papers supporting a claim that ingesting walnuts improves vascular health and may reduce heart attack risk.”
This evidence was apparently not good enough for the FDA, which told Diamond that its walnuts were “misbranded” because the “product bears health claims that are not authorized by the FDA.” h/t: cb

Just like the weird Facebook page Breivik had in English – with no friends, no groups and all interests in movies, tv and games 100% American – and the Twitter account made only a couple of days before the terrorism with but one “tweet” — it all looks planned for discovery to frame a narrative.
Police and his lawyer have said that Breivik confessed to the twin attacks, but denied criminal responsibility for a day that shook peaceful Norway to its core and was the deadliest ever in peacetime. Breivik has been charged with terrorism and will be arraigned on Monday.
Geir Lippestad, Breivik's lawyer, said his client has asked for an open court hearing "because he wants to explain himself."

Electric Car Maker Crashed and Burned: Salinas Loses $500,000
◼ Electric Car Maker Folds, Salinas Loses $500,000 - ksbw.com
A Salinas car manufacturing company that was expected to build environmentally friendly electric cars and create new jobs folded before almost any vehicles could run off the assembly line.
The city of Salinas had invested more than half a million dollars in Green Vehicles, an electric car start-up company.
All of that money is now gone, according to Green Vehicles President and Co-Founder Mike Ryan.
The start-up company set up shop in Salinas in the summer of 2009, after the city gave Ryan a $300,000 community development grant.
When the company still ran into financial trouble last year, the city of Salinas handed Ryan an additional $240,000. Green Vehicles also received $187,000 from the California Energy Commission.

Never has the Western public been so rich, lived so long, and been given so much government support — through unemployment insurance, food stamps, generous pensions, and medical care. Never has Western technology extended so many conveniences to so many millions, whether new medical technology, iPhones, GPS systems, or personal computers. Never has free-market capitalism created such wealth to fund redistributive government.
Yet the new good life is seen more as a birthright than as a miraculous extension of the extravagances of the very rich to the common man. Never in the history of civilization have two billion workers, in China and India, produced so many goods that have made everything from tennis shoes to plastic chairs so cheap and available — and never has such newfound largess been so underappreciated.
So in the midst of this surfeit of technology and entitlements, Westerners are furious that they cannot have even more — usually as defined by what a few others who are even better off have."

Earthquake Causes River to Disappear in Costa Rica
◼ Following a series of moderate earthquakes that struck the country Tuesday, residents around the Guacalito River in Costa Rica discovered that the river had disappeared. - yahoo
An entire body of water disappears? Strange but true, and this isn't the first time this odd event has happened.
In 2010, the Iska River in Slovenia disappeared after local residents heard loud crashing and banging overnight. The next morning, the river was dry and the riverbed was full of fish and other creatures. It was believed that the waters of the river had drained through a large crack into an underground riverbed. This disappearance was not believed to have been related to an earthquake.
Most recently -- aside from the disappearing river in Costa Rica -- an entire reservoir in Huntsbury, New Zealand, that was filled with 36 million liters of water disappeared following a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. The reservoir water disappeared after the earthquake struck Christchurch Feb. 22.

She's unusually giggly....
What can you say? She would have 'deemed' it passed? She'd rather be flown in her former liquor-stocked taxpayer funded jet? Why bother having meetings where you have to listen to people discuss things? What a freak.
Meanwhile, the President, after throwing a tantrum because he can't keep spending like there's no tomorrow, directed the "two camps" to go meet with "their people" - and therein lies the problem. One camp, one job, one purpose - represent ALL the people, not the goddam party. the fundamental thing he cannot see, or do, his posing as a "centrist" is nauseating, right up there with her giggling.

OBAMA WALKS OUT OF DEBT TALKS - Demands His Tax Hikes
He tried the "pass it in a few days or we're all gonna die," he tried threatening to push Granny off the cliff, and finally he pulled the classic Democrat move, the fleebagger, and left the room. He's trapped by his partisan bullying - despite recent attempts to spin him as a "centrist" who has "bent over backwards" to work with Republicans.
He's had years now to have dealt with this, so the hurry up or we're all gonna die thing is ludicrous. He had full control of both houses plus the White House, and he did nothing, and they did nothing.
So, now - the world waits. And we sink deeper into the morass.

◼ DSCC chair hits Koch brothers up for donation - HotAir
now that Democrats need some cash. As chair of the DSCC, Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) gave the Kochs a call inviting them to their soiree this summer. If it’s hard to imagine a less enticing invitation than a chance to spend hot, sweltering days with people who routinely paint you as the devil...
For many months now, your colleagues in the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee leadership have engaged in a series of disparagements and ad hominem attacks about us, apparently as part of a concerted political and fundraising strategy. Just recently, Senator Reid wrote in a DSCC fundraising letter that Republicans are trying to “force through their extreme agenda faster than you can say ‘Koch Brothers.’”
So you can imagine my chagrin when I got a letter from you on June 17 asking us to make five-figure contributions to the DSCC. You followed that up with a voicemail* indicating that, if we contributed heavily enough, we would garner an invitation to join you and other Democratic leaders at a retreat in Kiawah Island this September.
I’m hoping you can help me understand the intent of your request because it’s hard not to conclude that DSCC politics have become so cynical that you actually expect people whom you routinely denounce to give DSCC money.
It is troubling that private citizens taking part in the discourse have become the targets of White House and DSCC fundraising missives, and we would certainly encourage you to rethink that approach. Ultimately, I expect voters will see through that and will weigh the issues on the merits alone. But in the meantime, if you could provide me some insight on what exactly you are asking of us and why, I would be most grateful.
Someone in the executive branch must have requested the funding for Gunrunner
◼ Project Gunrunner Got Stimulus Money - John Hayward
◼ Too bad to check: Project Gunrunner was funded by … the stimulus - HotAir
◼ earmark for funding of gunrunner in the stimulus?
So the big question is - WHO put it in there? And then, of course, WHY?
Poster “Domandred” at Free Republic dug through the text of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, otherwise known as the “Obama stimulus,” and discovered that an earmark of ten million dollars for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives was rolled into the bill.
Part of that earmark came from House Resolution 495, the Southwest Border Violence Reduction Act of 2009. This bill explicitly included $15,000 in funding for Project Gunrunner.
That funding did indeed make it into the Obama stimulus act:
For an additional amount for ‘State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance’, $40,000,000, for competitive grants to provide assistance and equipment to local law enforcement along the Southern border and in High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas to combat criminal narcotics activity stemming from the Southern border, of which $10,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner. We need to know who pushed this Gunrunner funding into the Obama stimulus, and then the President must be made to formally admit – under oath if necessary – either he knew about Project Gunrunner all along… or he had absolutely no idea what was contained in the trillion-dollar stimulus package he boasted of passing without a single Republican vote.
◼ Too bad to check: Project Gunrunner was funded by … the stimulus - HotAir
I really did think it was too bad to check, despite posts about it at PJM, Weasel Zippers, and Free Republic. But I checked. You’ll find complete PDF and text versions of the final stimulus bill right here. Scroll down to page 16 (of 407!) in the PDF version and behold:
For an additional amount for ‘‘State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance’’, $40,000,000, for competitive grants to provide assistance and equipment to local law enforcement along the Southern border and in High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas to combat criminal narcotics activity stemming from the Southern border, of which $10,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner. And to think, you guys say the stimulus didn’t produce anything. It produced guns for Mexican drug cartels, didn’t it? Says Ben Domenech, in a stroke of perfect black humor: “Shovel ready.”
See what happens when Congress doesn’t read the bills?

◼ New breed of ‘super PACs,’ other independent groups could define 2012 campaign - Washington Post
Watch for massive Soros ties, ACORN under another name and Union monies being boosted well in advance of any and all campaigning.
One commercial accuses the president of worsening the deficit and says, “It’s time to take away Obama’s blank check.” Another attacks Republican tax and Medicare policies, saying, “We can’t rebuild America if they tear down the middle class.” So begins the shadow campaign of 2012, in which a new breed of “super PACs” and other independent groups are poised to spend more money than ever to sway federal elections. The first major ads look as if they came from a regular campaign. But they were produced and aired by groups independent of Obama and his GOP rivals.
Watch for massive Soros ties, ACORN under another name and Union monies being boosted well in advance of any and all campaigning.
The state's budget is balanced, housing prices are rising and the labor market is tight. A virtuous circle is in play. More economic activity leads to more investment, which leads to more employment, which in turn creates more demand for all sorts of goods and services. The state has natural resources in abundance, and is prospering by exporting them.
◼ North Dakota, Spurred by Energy and Ag Boom, Has 3.2 Percent Unemployment - Daniel Gross, Yahoo Finance
In May nonfarm payroll employment was up 4.3 percent from the year before, and the unassuming state sported a gaudy 3.2 percent unemployment rate. In several counties, the rate is below one percent. The state jobs office has 15,205 listings, up 64 percent from May 2010. North Dakota, which is one of the smallest states by population (about 670,000) and one of the largest geographically, has .7 unemployed persons for every job opening. In the U.S., the labor force participation rate is an anemic 64.2 percent. In North Dakota, it stands at 74 percent...Lessons?
it's not just about oil. North Dakota's prolific agricultural economy that is benefiting from global boom in commodities. Without bragging, state officials will let you know that the state is the largest single producer in the U.S. of fourteen crops, including barley, canola, durum wheat and navy beans.

It's an interesting way to look at it
As with all things blame-Republicans and avoid-Obama-taking-responsibility-for-his-own-actions and failings, this time, rather than admit that the reason wealthy Jewish donors are bailing on Obama is because of HIS horrible treatment of Israel and his apparent support of their relentless attackers, and his disgraceful treatment of Benjamin Netanyahu, the game is to blame "conservative attacks on Obama’s Israel stance" for "defections among Jewish voters and donors."
So now there's a full court press to convince said donors that the Emperor does indeed have robes of glittering, bejewelled gossamer.

This time, the fate of Israel, and the world, may depend on it.
