Tenacious Dive: (some of it inaudible) (Tim?:) It's 9:49pm here in LA and in just a few minutes Tenacious D is going to play, so I thought I'd stream it and later on hopefully get an interview with Jack Black about the occupy movement and... it's interesting to see the position of people who are successful when it comes to the 99% and by successful, I mean pretty wealthy... (woman's voice:) whatever it takes... (Tim?:) filming him for BoinBoing.net awesome blog
(Woman announcer:) "In just a few minutes Tenacious D is going to play, and then get an interview with Jack Black... Whatever it takes... filming from boingboing.net, awesome blog... I'm here in LA... in about 30 minutes the whole place is going to turn into this rocking(sp) dance party.... but before that happens you're gonna hear from what might be the greatest band in the world, perhaps the known universe, but first you're wanna say hello to my social S-E-I-U.. whassup everybody... on behalf of the members of SEIU, ...we wanna make sure we do this movement right, by taking these peeps everything here tonight 99% friends - right through November, are we ready for that... please help me welcome ...Jack Black and Tenacious D..."
This is the 99% Artist's Reception, never seen anything like this.. see if I can get an interview with Jack Black in just a minute, let's go into the green room for a second... Jack Black getting high fives, it's interesting to see a lot of their songs were political in nature... Welcome to the green room everybody. I'll just leave it going and see what happens... let's see if they want to do an interview... Hey Jeff would you like to do an interview "What's your name?" "Tim..." "#Occupy," I'm actually live right now" Oh, you're live? livestreaming, "C'mon they're livestreaming #Occupy," I wanted to ask you, "What's your perspective on the Occupy Movement..." "talk about it kid, you take this one..." "they do some good work Occupy wall st..It's similar to the 99%... oh of course, occupy, I think it's a powerful movement, an important movement, I think its gotta keep the fat cats in check, am I right, cage now, are we the fat cats? I'm afraid we are, but we're the fat cats that are om the good side, we're the limousine liberals, but, hey those are good, we need some of those, to grease the wheels, we're backing you guys 100%, we're backing you as much as we can without actually pitching a tent... how come we haven't gone out there to support it in person... we're going, we're coming to press the flesh...
Are you coming to Union square in NY? is that where it's happening? when's that whenever you guys come... it's starting to look like we're being exposed for not knowing enough, ha ha, but you know our heart's in the right place, we love ya...
alright , so.. Let's see if Jack Black and Kyle Gass show up in Union Square, I have a feeling it's not gonna be happening... but, uh, for those watching, lemme switch to the.. for those watching, it's pretty interesting to be here, it's kinda weird, this is something I've never done before, I try to stay away from these - events, I try to just stick to what's going on, but - a lot of people had views and opinions on the Artist's Reception for the 99%, you know MoveOn, rebuild the dream, the SEIU are really backing this and my fans are sort of show what's happening here and give everyone a chance to really understand what it is, and it was great, you know, Occupy rio, Jack Black and Kyle Gass mentioning that they're the 1% fat cats, or limousine liberals as they were saying.... but umm, for me, it's great to get a chance to come out here and sort of, and show everyone what's happening... and it's 10:22 pm here on the west coast...
so, thank you everyone whose stayed tuned in... i'm gonna keep going... I'm gonna give everyone a shot of... (chatter) so, I'm gonna show everyone what's going on, I'm gonna show everyone the greenroom, and you're going to get a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes...
Occupy LA occupiers are actually in the green room they got a chance to speak out at the event... so I dunno
it's important to show people what's happening, and that's kind of what I feel like I'm doing, all the time...let's do a mosey of the green room real quick, well, here's Brett Novak, a skateboard video producer, my good friend from back in the day...we're gonna do a 'quick walkthrough of the greenroom for everybody who's watching...
...so for me, Tenacious D was the big thing, and it was really it was really awesome to see, even during the performance. Jack Black and Kyle Gass straight up saying they were the 1%, it's kind of funny, but you know again, mostly my thing here is to give the inside perspective, to try'n show people what's what's really happening.. and it's pretty dark in here, even I can't see...
So, you've got, you've got these big, these big organizations, you've got the SEIU, over 2 million members, you've got MoveOn, Rebuild The Dream, and they really they really seem to like the idea of the 99%... now there's people within Occupy who don't like the fact that you have these big organizations... who have such power coming in and doing their thing, essentially, some people are worried about being co-opted, some people have strong criticisms of The 99% Spring, a lot of people really encourage the idea of getting Unions involved... so, my position isn't, or my place isn't to tell you what to believe, my place is to tell you to google it Google is really great, learn about it learn about the issues learn what everyone's doing, learn what OWS is doing, learn what the Tea Party is doing... and really just become engaged and informed... so, for those just tuning in you can find me on Twitter, @timcast
...these types of events... For Larry, who's asking, I am in Los Angeles, found out about this at the last minute, and I pushed real hard to be able to come out here, so that I could show what's happening...again, there were a lot of people from Occupy LA who came out and spoke at the artist's reception, alot of artists, MOBY is about to play, I really just wanted to show Tenacious D, got an interview with Van Jones, Elijah Wood, and, I spoke with Edward Norton, but I didn't get a video interview with him and I'm having trouble getting the Elijah Wood upload, uh to upload pretty much it, this is the green room, a lot of people chilling, Tenacious D earlier
thank you everybody, this is, again, I've never done anything like this, even with livestreaming OWS actions and encampment, now to be here streaming an artist's event...even with it's affiliations with Occupy and the 99%, it's really new, and I'm giving it a shot, see how it goes.. I dunno, I guess this is it, I'll definitely have more updates on Twitter.., and again I sincerely appreciate everybody who jumped in and wanted to watch the show, so, thank you all so much, and you'll see me later...
...and so I don't know if this will make it on live but I generally wait 30 seconds before I cut it off, if anyone gets to hear it.. My... Personally, when it comes to these big movements, you know, I spoke with some of the occupy LA people and they were saying you can't fight you know, being co-opted and all that stuff, and to stay away from the negative, it's really amazing to see a relatively small amount of people, inspired the world, and inspired even the nation, the world was really inspired by the __ movement and the Arab Spring, and now that there's this Artis's event that's inspiring so many people...
I'm told this won't be up long.
It's not normal for them to show this, but because it just happened live you can at least catch it, he will be damned for showing it, by occupiers, but see he is the kinda the middleman if you will between the movement idiots on the street and where the money comes from... most occupiers on the street despise him... he's kinda a middleman if you will... they dont like that the movement wasn't grass roots... and they want to claim that... with people like him in it it can't be... that part occupiers are blind to... they are trying to mainstream the 99%... it will be out in the open soon but its still pretty buried.. this video will shed a lot on the movement that has pretty much been hidden from the public but will be pretty mainstream soon...
