Doing our part ....

We've been wrestling with this idea since before Christmas, but today we decided to bite the bullet and add a new member to the family. We've named her Coco ...

The local shelter has all sorts of dogs coming and going all the time, but this poor girl has been there since July of last year, and we knew her days were numbered. Nobody wants a dog with no tail, and they show up far too often at our shelter. This is the second one we've adopted. People around here breed and train dogs for hunting, but many turn out to be unsuitable for hunting, usually because they're gun shy. Unfortunately, by the time they give up on them and turn them loose, they've already docked their tails and when they get picked up, they wind up languishing in the shelter for months before they finally get put down...

So, since we really don't care whether our dogs have tails, we decided to rescue another one. She seems smart, loyal, and friendly, and she really seems to appreciate a good home. So, welcome to the family Coco...
